Where I blog . . .

Yes, I do need to vacuum - but that's not the
point is it? So I'd appreciate if you'd stop
laying all this guilt on me. Unless you'd like
to comment on the pen marks all over my
couch too . . . (Just a little internal conver-
sation before getting the courage to post
this revealing picture.)
When you read FRESH AIR + FRESH FOOD, it means that I spent some time sitting on my couch usally early in the morning (before the kids wake up), at naptime (while the kids are alseep), or late at night (while the brood is a snooze).

This is where I research ingredients, find trail information, and keep in touch with all of you before I hit the shut down button on my laptop and head out to the garden, into the kitchen, off to the mountains, or just upstairs to get my kids dressed and ready for the day.

A plain spot I know. But this is not where I draw my inpiration. This is where I relax, unwind, unload, and connect with you after chasing my passions around all day. It's cozy.

  3. Sandy, the "green blow up baloonie thingie" is just about the fanciest, most technical down Mountain Hardwear sleeping bag that money can buy (not my money, it's on loan from U.S. Outdoor Store).

I had backpacking on the brain that day and just had to get my sleeping bag fix before giving it back to U.S. Outdoor!

But thanks for the laugh! I do look like I'm in some sort of crazy inflatable cocoon that fisherman use in the Bering Strait to keep from drowning! Ah perspective!

  4. I'm with Cortney, I scrolled down everyone else's picture, but clicked on yours. Because I miss backpacking so much!!! I'll get back out there, but only went once this summer (and that was car-camping, but better than nothing) because I had a baby in April. But we did manage several day hikes. Looking forward to peeking through your blog. I'm from WA, yeah for the Northwest!

  5. Lindsay, thanks so much for explaining your gear... my son is one of those people who saves people like you out in the wilderness.. I wish I could send you a photo of him.. he lived in Juneau and jumped out of choppers to rescue those stranded and in trouble....he is now a Lt. USCG and loves the great outdoors!
I'm a new follower and not an outdoor kinda girl but I have lots of respect for the adventure in your soul!

  9. Thanks for all the comments and Follower clicks! And thanks Sandy for letting your son jump out of choppers for people like me even though I hope I'm never one of "those" people!

Josh and Laura - we loved camping when our kiddos were babies - it's when they're toddlers that they get even tougher! But the more you do it, the more they get used to it and it becomes a lot more fun!

  10. Like the others, I saw the photo and had to click. I am just coming in from camping, am exhausted and am ready to sleep. I'll visit others tomorrow, but YOU I had to check out tonight. I can imagine a tiny slit for fingers to poke through and type.
Thanks for ending my day with a laugh.
