Go Hard and Go Home

BUCKET LIST: Backpack on the Pacific Crest Trail, CHECK!

Our shower needs to be cleaned out from all the dirt we bombared it with yesterday night, and our backpacks still need to be unpacked, but we did it and we are home.

So soon? Yes! For those of you who follow my blog, you know that the plan was a two night, three day trek. However, ominous clouds forced us home early. Good thing too - as soon as we hit the parking lot last night at 6:30, the rain started coming down in sheets. Phew! We cut off a day but we didn't cut off all that much milage logging 25 miles in two days around Three Fingered Jack. We hit it hard, and came home. Here are some pics from our journey -
Last minute carbo-load before the big hike. Not the smartest move but we had a coupon.

Like my jerry-rigged campstove? Inside the sawed-off, drilled tin can was a sterno (cans filled with fuel and wick use to keep catered dishes hot). Great for warming chicken. Not so good for boiling water.
Wasco Lake near where we camped and had lunch.

I've got the results of the protien bar taste testing so you'll have to stay tuned. Better yet, become a FOLLOWER of FRESH AIR + FRESH FOOD and never miss a post.

  1. The topography is so different from what we get to see around here. I liked the improvised camp stove.

  5. Thanks Anil P - but as entertaining as the campstove might look, I wouldn't recomend it! What a bust!
